Tutor: Brian Chan

Date & Time: Saturday 12th July, 10am - 4pm

Do you want to learn how to throw small pieces, like an espresso cup and saucer or a tiny vase? This can be very difficult with tiny amounts of clay, throwing pieces off the hump can be an efficient way of throwing lots of small pieces.

Throwing off the Hump is a traditional technique where a large mound of clay is placed on the wheel, and the potter shapes multiple smaller pieces from the top of the mound without removing the entire piece of clay. This method is especially useful for making a series of small, uniform pieces like cups, bowls, or lids in a more efficient and fluid process.

Join our throwing tutor Brian for this one-day workshop and learn how to throw smaller pieces from the top of large piece of clay on the wheel. Perfect for those with a bit of wheel experience who want to take their pottery skills to the next level. Throwing experience is needed for this workshop, you must be confident centering clay.
