Animal Platters

Join ceramic artist, Rhi Jarman, to design, create and decorate your own ceramic animal platter.
During the workshop, Rhi will support you to develop and sketch ideas for your animal platter and to create a template for your chosen design. This will involve rolling a clay slab and cutting and shaping the piece. You will learn a variety of techniques to decorate your platter, including methods for drawing, adding details and texture, and painting your design, as well as adding colour with oxides and underglaze.
Your finished piece will be glazed and stoneware fired following the class for you to collect. It can be used as a decorative or functional plate or platter, or even hung on the wall to enjoy as a piece of art!
Who it’s for:
The workshop is suitable for complete beginners, or for novice or intermediate potters to expand their hand building and decorating skills.
Skills outcomes:
2D and 3D design, hand building / slab building, fettling, illustration, and decorating in clay.
What you will need:
Please bring an apron or wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty!
Please remove jewellery and tie long hair back.
All materials are included.
You may wish to bring your own sketch book.
FAQs
Can I take my work home?
Yes, your piece will be glazed and fired in our kilns. Firing can take up to 4 weeks, we will contact you when your pieces are ready to collect.
Can I get a refund if I can’t make it?
Let us know as soon as you can, if you want to cancel your booking. If you let us know more than 14 days ahead of the course start date, you will receive a full refund. Within 14 days of the course starting, you will not be able to receive a refund, unless your place on the course is filled by someone else.
