What will I learn?

Learn the basics of throwing on the potter's wheel, from centering the clay to trimming and finishing. Each student will be guided to centre the clay, and learn to throw shapes such as cylinders and bowls. You will become confident throwing independently and shaping forms on the wheel as well as trimming using pottery tools.

What is included?

All materials and equipment are included. Kiln firings are included and you will have a choice of a range of coloured glazes to finish your pieces, during the last week. You will be able to choose 5 pieces to be fired in our electric kilns.

Who is this course for?

This course is aimed at beginners or those who want a refresher of the basics of throwing on the potter’s wheel.

FAQs

What happens if I miss a session?

Don’t worry, your tutor will make sure to catch you up on the next class. We cannot offer any refunds for missed sessions during a course, but you are welcome to book onto an Open Session to finish your pieces and make up the time. Please note that these sessions do not include tuition in the same way your course does.

How long does the kiln firing take?

Firing can take up to 4 weeks, we will contact you when your pieces are ready to collect.

Can I get a refund after booking?

Let us know as soon as you can, if you want to cancel your booking. If you let us know more than 14 days ahead of the course start date, you will receive a full refund. Within 14 days of the course starting, you will not be able to receive a refund, unless your place on the course is filled by someone else.
